My eyes, they burn

I have to say that at times I am very envious of those who can just turn the lights out mentally and go to sleep on planes. I travel a fair amount and yet I still am always pretty wound up from the trip and can't sleep. Well, there's also the issue of the extreme discomfort for economy class air travel. Anyways, I am - oh god - only half-way through a 7-hour layover at the airport in Doha. 12 hours to get here, then an 8 hour flight to get to Singapore. Singapore is pretty close to being on the other side of the world.

Breaking with some tradition, I did doze for a few hours on the flight over here, but it was not sufficient in quality or quantity. I decided that the length of the trip and extent of the layover merited buying a day pass in one of the lounges here, so I was able to shower and sit quietly with my Wifi and snacks. But I'm starting to seriously consider just setting my phone alarm and taking a quick nap. I could do work but it would not be my best efforts. And I do have stuff to read...hmm, maybe I should break out the Stephen King. If that can't keep me up...

Two things

1. For the love of cats, can someone please explain to me what "fishy" means? It has been showing up a lot on this season of RuPaul's Drag Race - and if you're not watching it, click over immediately to Logo TV and get caught up - and we had no idea. So off to the Urban Dictionary we went - yes, we are getting old - and it apparently is a drag queen term to refer to someone who doesn't look so much like a drag queen but just a regular woman, and a plain one at that.

Except. Today when I was walking with the dog home from the library, we happened to go past a junior high a few minutes after the kids had been let out for the day. One kid wanted to know if Che is a husky (for the millionth time, no). Then he said as I walked away, "I like his bandanna. It's real fishy!" This puts a whole new spin on it and now I am clueless. Again. Ayudame, por favor.

2. They are putting a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the lobby of the Hinckley Hilton. ICED BLENDED MOCHAS AT MY BECK AND CALL. Every time I visit the fam in LA, I make daily pilgrimages to the closest one so I can have my beloved iced blendeds - Starbucks' Frappuccino is merely a pale imitation of it. I've even had them in Seoul and New Delhi. So very excited that they're now in DC! Victory in our time!!!
